Lagos state Govt boosts health as General Hospital Ijede commissions 11-bed accident emergency unit
In line with Lagos state government goal to entrench healthcare in all parts of the State, General Hospital Ijede in Ikorodu recently marked a major milestone with the official commissioning of its newly constructed 11-bed accident and emergency (A&E) unit, a significant step in advancing emergency health care delivery within the Ikorodu division and Lagos State at large.

The Medical Director/CEO, General Hospital Ijede, Dr. Olufemi Aletan expressed profound appreciation to the Lagos State Government for its unwavering support in strengthening health care infrastructure across the state. He emphasised that the new A&E unit is not merely a physical structure but a critical life-saving facility designed to offer prompt, professional, and compassionate care in line with global standards.
He lauded the collaborative efforts of the hospital management team, clinical and non-clinical staff, and supporting partners who contributed to the successful completion of the project.

Delivering his goodwill message, the immediate past Permanent Secretary of HSC, Dr. Benjamin Eniayewun commended the hospital leadership for their intentional and strategic efforts in establishing a dedicated space that meets the urgent care needs of the community. He noted that the A&E unit stands as a testament to the hospital’s commitment to excellence and innovation in health care delivery.
Also in attendance were HRM Oba Abdul Hakeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin kingdom, ably represented; Medical Directors of sister secondary facilities, past MDs of General Hospital, Ijede including PS of Health District I, Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Bankole, community leaders, and key stakeholders.
