NAFOWA Honours Fallen Heroes’ Widows on International Widows’ Day

The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and empowerment of widows of fallen Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel through a special dinner and empowerment lecture marking the 2026 International Widows’ Day.
Speaking at the event in Abuja, the President of NAFOWA, Mrs. Ngozi Aneke, paid glowing tribute to the courage, resilience and enduring strength of the widows, describing them as living symbols of hope whose sacrifices continue to inspire the Nigerian Air Force community.
She said the association’s commitment goes beyond offering sympathy, stressing that NAFOWA remains dedicated to restoring confidence, promoting dignity and creating sustainable opportunities that enable widows to rebuild their lives with hope, purpose and self-reliance.
Guided by NAFOWA’s vision of “Strengthening Compassion, Empowering Communities,” the programme featured an empowerment lecture, interactive sessions and recreational activities aimed at fostering emotional healing, economic empowerment and stronger social support among participants.
The event also provided an opportunity for the widows to engage directly with the NAFOWA leadership on welfare-related issues, reaffirming the association’s resolve to ensure that the families of fallen heroes remain valued, supported and closely connected to the Nigerian Air Force family.
The initiative aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, themed “Welfare for Enhanced Warfare,” which underscores the importance of providing sustained care and support to the families of personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
According to the association, by maintaining comprehensive welfare programmes for the families of fallen personnel, the Nigerian Air Force continues to boost the morale of its serving personnel, strengthen their fighting spirit and reinforce confidence that their loved ones will be cared for in the event of the ultimate sacrifice while defending Nigeria.
