Hon. Ajose Hosts 243 Battalion Commanding Officer, Strengthens Security Partnership in Olorunda
The Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, received the Commanding Officer of the 243 Battalion, Lt. Col. A.A. Ikoro, and his entourage during a courtesy visit to the Council Secretariat.
Lt. Col. Ikoro congratulated Hon. Ajose and his Vice Chairman on their victory at the recently concluded local government elections, noting that his visit was both to pay homage and to reaffirm the cordial relationship between the military and Olorunda LCDA.
“Olorunda LCDA is my first point of call because the Chairman is not just my host but my landlord. Strengthening our collaboration is essential for peace and stability in this community,” Ikoro said.
The Commanding Officer underscored the importance of formalizing ties between the barracks and the Council, especially in intelligence sharing and information exchange, which he described as vital for decision-making and sustaining peace. He also invited Council staff to make use of the Officers’ Mess for relaxation and networking but raised concerns about the stoppage of refuse evacuation in the barracks, urging the Chairman to intervene.
In his response, Hon. Ajose expressed appreciation for the visit and apologized for not visiting the barracks earlier due to pressing administrative duties. He pledged to prioritize the interests of the military community, strengthen security collaboration, and involve the 243 Battalion in Council programs.
“We must strategically plan the security architecture of Olorunda in synergy with the military to ensure sustainable peace and development,” Ajose assured.
On the sanitation request, the Chairman promised immediate steps to restore effective waste management in the barracks.
As a mark of recognition, Lt. Col. Ikoro presented Hon. Ajose with a special award, commending his leadership and contributions to community development.
The visit, marked by mutual respect and camaraderie, reinforces the partnership between Olorunda LCDA and the Nigerian Army, setting a new tone for collaboration in security and grassroots development
