Sallah homage: President Tinubu receives Senate leadership led by Akpabio in Lagos
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received a high-powered delegation of Senate leadership and distinguished senators at a Sallah homage visit in Lagos.
The delegation, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, included Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Solomon Adeola, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, and several other senators.
The courtesy visit, which is a traditional gesture during the Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebrations, underscores the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government. Sources close to the meeting described the atmosphere as warm and productive, with discussions centered on national unity, good governance, and continued collaboration for the progress of Nigeria.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the Senate leadership for their unwavering support and partnership in driving key reforms and legislative agenda of his administration. He emphasized the importance of harmony between both arms of government in tackling the nation’s challenges and delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda.
In his remarks, the President noted that the spirit of Sallah — marked by sacrifice, reflection, and togetherness — should inspire leaders to work selflessly for the Nigerian people.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on behalf of the delegation, congratulated President Tinubu on the successes recorded so far by his administration and reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to providing the necessary legislative backing for policies aimed at economic recovery, security improvement, and infrastructure development.
Akpabio also used the occasion to extend Sallah greetings to all Nigerians, particularly Muslims observing the festival, praying for peace, prosperity, and divine guidance for the country.
The meeting further highlighted the strong working relationship between the 10th National Assembly and the Tinubu administration, which has been instrumental in the swift passage of several executive bills and the deepening of democratic governance.
This Sallah homage is one of several high-profile visits the President has been receiving in Lagos during the festive period, reflecting the respect and solidarity of key stakeholders across the political spectrum.
