Governor Sanwo-Olu Hosts Traditional Rulers Across Nigeria, Calls for Stronger Role in Governance

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Monday played host to traditional rulers from across the country during the National Executive Council meeting of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN).

Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the vital role traditional institutions play in maintaining peace and fostering national unity.

“We hosted our traditional rulers from across Nigeria here in Lagos for the National Executive Council meeting of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria,” the governor stated.

“Our royal fathers are connected to the heartbeat of our communities. They are custodians of culture and vital partners in peace, unity, and nation-building.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need to strengthen the constitutional roles of traditional rulers, noting that their influence and wisdom are essential in resolving community conflicts and promoting development at the grassroots level.

“I shared my belief that we must strengthen their constitutional role in governance because their influence and wisdom are key to resolving conflicts and fostering development at the grassroots,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with traditional institutions in pursuit of a more peaceful, just, and united Nigeria.

“Together, let’s keep working for a Nigeria that is just, peaceful, and united,” Sanwo-Olu concluded.
