The Obiukwu Obieziokwu Palace in Ghana came alive on August 30, 2025, as Ndi Igbo converged to celebrate the 13th coronation anniversary of Eze Amb. Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu (Eze Ohazurume), the paramount king of Ndigbo in Ghana.

Reflecting on his reign in a heartfelt message, Eze Ihenetu described the past 13 years as “a journey of duty and gratitude,” marked by challenges, triumphs, and the enduring resilience of Igbo culture.

“In 2012, my people chose me to be their voice, their shield, and their bridge between home and abroad,” he recalled. “Thirteen years later, the calling remains the same: to serve with honor, to lead with dignity, and to carry my people in my heart.”

Eze Ihenetu noted that his reign has brought Igbo culture to global recognition, with festivals like the Igbo New Yam Festival and Igbo Day in Ghana attracting thousands from diverse backgrounds.

He expressed gratitude to:

  • The Igbo community in Ghana for their trust and steadfastness.
  • Traditional leaders in Ghana for fostering peaceful coexistence between cultures.
  • The Government of Ghana for hospitality and collaboration in resolving issues and maintaining harmony.
  • His family and close supporters for their sacrifices, encouragement, and prayers.

On leadership, he admitted the journey has not been without trials. “There have been days of unity and days where division tried to creep in. Yet through it all, God has been faithful, and the spirit of Igbo resilience has never failed me,” he said.

For him, rulership goes beyond a title. “Being Eze Igbo Ghana is not simply about holding a title. It is about protecting our interests, upholding our culture, and ensuring no Igbo person feels forgotten in this land. Leadership is service to humanity first.”

Looking ahead, Eze Ihenetu pledged deeper commitment to peace, unity, and cultural diplomacy:
“The future holds greater cooperation and stronger bonds between our people and our host nation. If I have achieved anything in these thirteen years, it is because we did it together. The best is yet to come.”
