The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has entered a strategic partnership with Pulse Africa, aimed at positioning Lagos as the continent’s leading hub for creativity, tourism, and cultural heritage.

The announcement was made during a courtesy visit on Thursday by Pulse Media’s CEO, Ms. Katharina Link, and her team to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, in Alausa.

Commending Pulse’s role in amplifying Nigeria’s creative industries and youth culture, Aregbe described the partnership as timely and strategic.

“Pulse is a natural partner whose storytelling power can help us project the Lagos of our dreams. This collaboration is about amplifying Lagos to the world. Lagos gains a stronger cultural voice, while Pulse strengthens its leadership in shaping conversations around tourism, arts, and culture,” Aregbe said.

He also highlighted the Ministry’s flagship projects, including: 101 Days in Lagos (September 26 – January 4), Lagos Cultural Weekend, Skill Up Lagos, Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair, E1 Championship, and other youth-focused programmes. Pulse, he revealed, would serve as both publishing partner and lead media partner for the Lagos Cultural Mission.

In her remarks, Ms. Link reaffirmed Pulse Africa’s passion for showcasing Lagos’ creativity and opportunities:
“Pulse is passionate about highlighting the energy, creativity, and opportunities that Lagos represents. We see ourselves as a platform that amplifies voices, spotlights hidden gems, and connects Lagos to audiences across Nigeria and beyond.”

Also present was Ms. Tanaz of Awari/Lost in Lagos, who stressed that partnerships between government and media are essential in shaping Lagos’ global cultural identity.

Lagos as a Sports and Tourism Hub

In a related engagement, Aregbe hosted Ms. Abosede Shafer and her team, organisers of the international boxing tournament Chaos in the Ring, scheduled for October 1 in Lagos.

The event will feature over 150 athletes, including 50 international boxers, with global boxing icon Anthony Joshua confirming his attendance.

Mr. Aregbe praised the initiative, noting that such events blend sports, culture, and tourism, reinforcing Lagos’ vision of becoming a world-class destination for creativity, entertainment, and global tourism.
