APK joins other newly elected council chairmen at Lagos leadership retreat
The Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon (APK), has joined fellow newly elected council chairmen and vice chairmen across Lagos State at the ongoing Leadership Retreat organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development.
The onboarding programme, which took place at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, commenced earlier this week under the theme:
“Driving Grassroots Development Through Strategic Governance.”
The retreat is aimed at equipping local government leaders with the knowledge, tools, and mindset needed to deliver transformational leadership and effective service at the grassroots level.
Representing Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu at the opening session, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat emphasized the importance of professionalism, transparency, and innovation in governance. He charged all council leaders to be visionary, accountable, and responsive to the needs of their communities.

Speaking on the significance of the retreat, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon described the experience as “a timely foundation for results-driven leadership.”
“This retreat has not only broadened our understanding of the legal and operational frameworks guiding local governance, but it has also challenged us to raise the bar in service delivery. It’s a necessary step in aligning our goals with the vision of a Greater Lagos,” he said.
As the retreat continues, APK remains committed to leveraging the knowledge and strategies gained to enhance governance and accelerate development in Olorunda LCDA.
