NSCDC Intercepts Truck Conveying Suspected Vandalised Railway Tracks in Bauchi
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has foiled an alleged attempt to vandalise Nigeria’s railway infrastructure, intercepting a truck loaded with suspected stolen railway tracks and arresting five suspects in Bauchi State.
The operation, carried out on January 12, 2026, followed credible intelligence on a long vehicle suspected to be transporting vandalised railway materials along the Miri–Jos Road near Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
Confirming the development, the NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Mr. Saminu Yusuf, said operatives intercepted the truck, with registration number MDB 360 XA, and discovered that the railway tracks had been cleverly concealed beneath bags of chicken feed in an apparent attempt to evade security checks.
According to him, five suspects were arrested at the scene. They include Adam Kolo (42) from Borno State, Samuel Musa (44) from Yobe State, Solomon Jankaro (40) from Niger State, and Emmanuel Collins (26) and Sunday David (20), both from Enugu State.
Yusuf disclosed that the alleged mastermind of the operation, identified simply as Mr. John, as well as the truck driver, Auwal, are currently at large, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.
Items recovered during the operation include 80 pieces of suspected vandalised railway tracks, a Lexus RX 330 with registration number BWR 60 DN, the long vehicle truck used for transportation, five pairs of slippers, and several bags of chicken feed used as camouflage.
The NSCDC spokesperson reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, warning that perpetrators of vandalism would be tracked down and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
