LASCOHET Provost Condemns ₦1.5m Admission Fraud by Cyber Café Operator
The Provost of the Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), Professor Raheem Olasupo Akewushola, has strongly condemned a case of alleged admission fraud involving a cyber café operator, Mr. Kehinde Micheal Arapatile.
Speaking on the incident, Professor Akewushola reiterated the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on fraud and misconduct, stressing that perpetrators will be punished accordingly.
The case came to light after an admission seeker petitioned the College, alleging that Arapatile defrauded her of ₦1.5 million with a false promise of securing her admission into LASCOHET. She revealed that an initial ₦500,000 deposit was transferred to his account, but when admission did not materialize, Arapatile allegedly assured her she would still receive a certificate without attending classes.
Feeling uncomfortable with the arrangement, the applicant demanded a refund. Instead, Arapatile allegedly resorted to threats to silence her, prompting her to escalate the matter to the Provost.
During interrogation by LASCOHET management, Arapatile reportedly confessed but claimed the admission was not into LASCOHET, rather into a professional body, CIMB—an acronym he failed to fully explain. Further investigations revealed stamp pads of several institutions in his shop.
Professor Akewushola urged the public to be vigilant, warning that:
“Mr. Kehinde Micheal Arapatile is neither a staff member nor an agent of LASCOHET. Anyone transacting with him does so at their own risk.”
He assured that investigations are ongoing and reaffirmed the College’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and due process in all its admission processes.
