IGP Kayode Egbetokun to Address Global Security Forum in China on Combating Transnational Crime

Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, is leading the country’s delegation to the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum taking place in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Forum convenes Ministers of Security, Police Chiefs, and international security experts to strengthen partnerships and develop strategies against cross-border crime.

As part of the programme, IGP Egbetokun will deliver a keynote address on 18 September 2025 under the theme “Combating Transnational Crime and Countermeasures.” His presentation will spotlight:

  • Nigeria’s counter-crime strategies targeting cross-border criminal networks.
  • Ongoing policing reforms aimed at enhancing professionalism and accountability.
  • International collaborations to safeguard communities and promote global security.

Ahead of the Forum, the IGP is scheduled to meet with Mr. Qi Yanjun, China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, to discuss strengthening Nigeria–China cooperation. Key areas of focus include intelligence sharing, capacity building, and enhanced law enforcement partnerships.

Egbetokun’s participation underscores Nigeria’s growing role in the global security architecture and reflects its commitment to proactive, cooperative approaches in tackling emerging threats, particularly those linked to transnational organized crime.
