Depot Nigerian Army Amasiri-Edda Holds Inter-Company Drill Competition

The Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, has conducted its inter-company drill competition as part of activities lined up for the 90th Regular Recruit Intake (90RRI), with Charlie Training Company emerging as the overall winner.
The event, held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Depot’s Temporary Training Area in Jaji Military Cantonment, featured participation from all training companies, ranging from Alpha to Juliet.

In a statement, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Depot Amasiri-Edda, Captain Sarah Seth Barka, said the Special Guest of Honour, Brigadier General B.O. Omopariola, commended the Depot Commandant, Brigadier General Ahmed Maikudi Ahmadu, for his dedication to training and capacity development of recruits.

He described the drill competition as a vital exercise in instilling discipline, regimentation, and professionalism among young soldiers.
Brigadier General Omopariola noted that beyond the contest for medals and awards, the exercise was designed to foster teamwork, esprit de corps, and adherence to military standards. He also lauded the performance of all participating companies and encouraged instructors to sustain their efforts in grooming recruits into competent and professional soldiers.

Announcing the results, the Chief Judge, Lieutenant Colonel M.M. Bako, stated that participants were assessed based on established criteria, including turnout, foot drill, arms drill, and words of command, among others.
In the individual category, awards were presented for Overall Best Parade Commander, Best First Leg Commander, and Best Second Leg Commander.
In the group category, Charlie Training Company clinched the top position as the overall best, while Alpha Company placed tenth.

Highlights of the event included inspection of participating companies, balloting, the drill competition, a march past in both slow and quick time, announcement of results, and presentation of awards and gifts, including cash prizes from the Commandant and the Special Guest of Honour.
