Pomp as Solomon Aguene Unveils Country Home in Honour of Late Parents
…Former Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos President appreciates Dave Umahi, Odii, other dignitaries
High Chief Solomon Aguene, former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State Chapter, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to thousands of people who gathered at his country home in Onicha Igboeze, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, to celebrate the commissioning of his new residence and honour his late parents.
The businessman and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Aguene Art Foundation expressed gratitude to God Almighty and all those who contributed to the success of the double celebration held on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
The memorable occasion featured the commissioning of his new country home and a solemn memorial in honour of his beloved late parents.
Describing the celebration as a day of joy, honour and divine grace, Aguene said the occasion would remain evergreen in his heart.
In a post-event appreciation message he personally signed, the high chief attributed the colour, glamour and peaceful atmosphere that characterised the events to God’s grace.
“First and foremost, I give all the glory to God Almighty. Without Him, my double event would not have been possible. I will continue to wave my hands to God in praise throughout my lifetime for His grace and mercy,” he said.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Aguene appreciated the entire Onicha Igboeze community, as well as friends, well-wishers and guests who travelled from different parts of the country and beyond to celebrate with him.
“I thank my entire community of Onicha Igboeze and all the people that came from different areas because of my event. All those that came from far and near got back home safely,” he said.
The former Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos president also expressed special appreciation to Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, an Ebonyi-born billionaire businessman, philanthropist and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in the state.
He described Odii’s brotherly love and generous support as uncommon and unforgettable.
Aguene equally acknowledged Pius Nweke, popularly known as Acid, who travelled from the United Kingdom to attend the celebration, former Super Eagles coach Bonfrere Jo, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Linus Okorie, and other distinguished guests.
He also renewed his appreciation to the Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, for his support despite what he described as attempts by some individuals to create a rift between them through political blackmail.
“Enemies wanted to demarcate me and Umahi through cheap blackmail in the name of politics. But I will continue to respect Dave Umahi. His telephone number is always answered and he stands out in that regard,” Aguene said.
He praised Umahi for remaining accessible to people despite his years of service in public office.
“Being a former party chairman, deputy governor, governor and now minister, he always picks his calls. I respect him greatly for that.
“Besides, Umahi is doing well in his ministerial position,” he added.
Aguene also commended members of the planning committee for their dedication and contributions to the successful organisation of the events.
“I also extend my appreciation to the planning committee who showed their best,” he said.
The celebration attracted prominent Igbo leaders, captains of industry, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo from Lagos and across the South-East, as well as the celebrant’s social and business associates.
The events were widely described by attendees as colourful and successful, bringing together friends, associates and community leaders to celebrate Aguene’s milestone and remember his late parents.
The former Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos president concluded by disclosing that his family would soon organise a special thanksgiving service to glorify God for His mercies, protection and blessings.
