Tinubu Appoints Kayode Are Ambassador-Designate to U.S., Ayodele Oke to France
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of Kayode Are as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to the United States.
The development was confirmed on Thursday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, who announced the deployment of four nominees to key diplomatic missions.
According to the statement, Ayodele Oke has been appointed ambassador-designate to France, while Aminu Dalhatu, a former Nigerian ambassador to South Korea, was named high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
Also appointed is Usman Dakingari, a former governor of Kebbi State, who will serve as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Turkey.
Kayode Are, who hails from Ogun State, is expected to lead Nigeria’s diplomatic mission in Washington, D.C., at a time of renewed engagement between Nigeria and the United States across economic, security, and governance sectors.
The appointments form part of the Tinubu administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign relations and reposition its diplomatic corps to effectively advance the country’s strategic interests abroad.
