Troops Eliminate Lakurawa Terrorists in Sokoto, Katsina, Recover Weapons, Rustled Livestock
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have intensified offensive operations against terrorists and bandits, successfully neutralising several terrorists and recovering weapons as well as rustled livestock in Sokoto and Katsina states.
In Sokoto State, troops swiftly responded to a distress call over an attempt by suspected members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group (LTG) to set ablaze a Nigeria Immigration Service facility at Ruwa Wuri Village in Tangaza Local Government Area.
During the ensuing firefight, the troops neutralised two terrorists, while others fled under heavy gunfire. Following a subsequent exploitation operation in the area, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition and a motorcycle.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
In a separate operation in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops on fighting patrol encountered terrorists moving with herds of rustled livestock at Danya Bakwai Settlement.
The troops engaged the criminals, forcing them to abandon 62 rustled animals, which were successfully recovered.
The livestock were later handed over to their rightful owners at the palace of the Daddara District Head in Jibia LGA.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorism and banditry across the region and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
