Troops Dominate Ngoshe, Ensure Peaceful Eid Celebration in Borno
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have again demonstrated firm operational control over Ngoshe and Gwoza areas of Borno State, effectively countering terrorist propaganda and ensuring a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the axis.
In a desperate attempt to remain relevant, Boko Haram/ISWAP elements recently circulated false claims of plans to overrun Ngoshe and conduct Sallah prayers at the Central Mosque.
The move was aimed at creating panic and projecting a false image of strength. However, the claims exposed a struggling group increasingly reliant on misinformation rather than real operational capacity.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, troops acting on credible intelligence swiftly reinforced the area following an attempted incursion on March 4 and intensified clearance operations. The proactive response, supported by aerial surveillance and the cooperation of vigilant residents, disrupted terrorist movements and led to the neutralisation of several insurgents, further weakening their already degraded operational capability.
As a result, Ngoshe and the adjoining Gwoza axis remained calm, secure and firmly under the control of Nigerian Army troops throughout the Sallah period. Residents observed prayers and celebrated freely without any interference, further exposing the emptiness of the terrorists’ claims.
In a strong demonstration of confidence and authority, troops led by the Commander, 26 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General N.I. Abdullahi, joined worshippers to observe Eid prayers at the Ngoshe Central Mosque.
The gesture not only reassured residents but also underscored the continued failure of terrorist propaganda efforts.
The Chief of Army Staff commended the resilience and cooperation of the local population, noting that their support remains critical to sustaining the ongoing successes recorded in the theatre.
He urged members of the public to disregard and avoid amplifying terrorist propaganda, describing such narratives as deliberate tools used by weakened groups to instill fear and undermine security efforts.
Operation HADIN KAI, the statement added, will continue to sustain aggressive operations across the theatre to consolidate gains, eliminate residual threats and ensure enduring peace and security in the North-East.
