PMO Holds Maiden Sensitisation Programme on Pension Verification in Lagos
The Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO) has launched the maiden edition of its “I Am Alive” Sensitisation Programme on Pension Verification Exercise, a landmark initiative aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency in pension administration across Lagos State parastatals, agencies, and government-owned companies.
The sensitisation programme, held on Tuesday at the STO Resource Centre, CBD Alausa, Ikeja, underscores the State’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of retirees who served meritoriously.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Parastatals Monitoring, Hon. Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, described the initiative as a significant milestone in ensuring the integrity of the pension system.
According to him, the verification exercise is designed not only to validate the status of pensioners but also to ensure that resources allocated for retirees on the old pension scheme are judiciously and rightly utilised.
“This programme reflects our administration’s resolve to protect pensioners’ rights while ensuring that pension resources are channelled only to genuine beneficiaries. The welfare of those who built the foundation of our state remains a top priority,” Obanikoro said.
The initiative marks the beginning of a sustained effort to streamline pension processes in Lagos, improve data integrity, and build confidence among retirees and their families.
