Peace Corp of Nigeria seeks partnerships with WAPA on youth empowerment
The Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), led by the Lagos State Commandant, Patriot (Dr.) Badmus Akeem Abayomi has paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at empowering youths and women across the state.
During the visit, which took place at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Alausa, Ikeja, Dr. Badmus noted that the organisation, which has been in existence for over 28 years, remains committed to youth orientation, community service, humanitarian outreach, and the promotion of security consciousness among citizens.
He explained that the Corps operates selflessly in its mission to foster national development through discipline, patriotism, and service to humanity.
Welcoming the delegation, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Bolaji Cecilia Dada commended the Peace Corps for its dedication to community development and youth engagement. She expressed the Ministry’s readiness to partner with the organisation through its skills acquisition centres and empowerment programmes, particularly to train and empower female members of the Corps.
Mrs. Dada reaffirmed that the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu–led administration remains steadfast in promoting initiatives that advance youth and women empowerment as part of the State’s sustainable development agenda.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a framed portrait, commemorative plaque, and medal to the Honourable Commissioner by the Peace Corps delegation.
Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, and the Directors of the Ministry.
