NAF Advances Indigenous Technical Capability Through Citation Sovereign 680 Training
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening indigenous technical expertise with the ongoing Citation Sovereign 680 aircraft type-rating training at the 307 Executive Airlift Group.
During an oversight visit to the programme, the Coordinator of the NAF Type Rating Course (NAFTRAC) Secretariat assessed the progress of the specialised training involving selected personnel and highlighted its alignment with the Chief of the Air Staff’s Command Philosophy of Standardised Training and Mission-Focused Capability Development.
The training is aimed at enhancing platform-specific competencies, strengthening indigenous aircraft maintenance capability and promoting operational excellence across the Service.
The Coordinator commended both instructors and trainees for their professionalism, dedication and commitment throughout the course. He described the development of home-grown expertise on the Citation Sovereign 680 platform as a major step towards improving the NAF’s self-reliance in aircraft maintenance while ensuring the sustained operational effectiveness of its executive airlift fleet.
He urged participants to maximise the opportunity to acquire critical knowledge and technical skills that would further enhance the Service’s maintenance capability and overall mission readiness.
The Coordinator also expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, for approving the first batch of the 2026 NAFTRAC training programmes. He described the initiative as a significant boost to the Nigerian Air Force’s human capital development efforts.
