Commuters Escape Death as Container Truck Crashes Into Six Vehicles on Kara Bridge

…No casualty recorded as LASEMA responders restore traffic

Commuters on Tuesday morning escaped what could have been a major tragedy when a 40-foot container-laden truck crashed into six vehicles at Kara Bridge, inward OPIC, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that no life was lost and no injuries were recorded in the accident.

According to a statement by the agency, the container truck, which had no registration number, reportedly developed a mechanical fault while in motion, lost control and rammed into six other vehicles.
A total of seven vehicles were involved in the crash.

LASEMA said its LRT Tiger Squad stationed at C3 swiftly responded to the incident alongside the police, who immediately moved in to manage the scene and prevent a secondary accident.

The agency added that the damaged vehicles were subsequently cleared from the roadway, allowing normal traffic flow to resume.

The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, commended the emergency responders for their prompt intervention, noting that their swift action helped prevent casualties and ensured the quick restoration of traffic.

He urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to ensure that their vehicles are properly maintained, comply with roadworthiness requirements and exercise caution when driving on major highways.
