CAS Celebrates AFIT’s Legacy of Discipline as 302 Personnel Graduate in Kaduna
For nearly five decades, the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, has remained the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) foremost centre of technical manpower development, research, and academic excellence. This proud legacy was once again celebrated on 10 September 2025, when 302 officers, airmen, and airwomen graduated from various military courses during a colourful passing-out ceremony.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, who served as Special Guest of Honour, praised AFIT’s enduring reputation as a premier institution of higher learning in Nigeria.
“AFIT stands tall as one of the most sought-after institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, built on academic excellence, strict discipline, zero tolerance for strikes, and a commitment to the federal character principle,” the CAS remarked.
He highlighted AFIT’s expanding role in national development, citing the NASENI North-West Technology Innovation Hub and tuition-free training of Nigerian Army personnel as proof of its growing influence across the Armed Forces.

Addressing the graduands, Air Marshal Abubakar charged them to uphold professionalism and precision in handling NAF’s new-generation aircraft.
“You are now custodians of these platforms, entrusted with their safety, airworthiness, and mission readiness. The Service looks to you to apply your skills with dedication and innovation to keep our assets combat-ready at all times.”
The Commandant of AFIT, Air Vice Marshal Sani Labaran Rabe, expressed gratitude for the CAS’s unwavering support, which has accelerated infrastructure growth, training expansion, and research innovation at the institute.
In a symbolic gesture, the CAS presented awards to the best-performing graduands, recalling his own journey as AFIT’s best graduating student in the Officer Engineering Course of 1992 and in the Aeromechanical Department, a testament to the institute’s long-standing tradition of excellence.
