Anambra Government Condemns Attack on NYSC Member, Assures of Justice
The Anambra State Government has condemned in strong terms the assault on a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by some operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achi in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the government described the incident, which was captured in a viral video, as disturbing and unacceptable, noting that such acts undermine the sacrifices of young Nigerians serving their nation with dedication and patriotism.
The government clarified that security outfits in the state—Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga-Achi—were established under the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 to maintain law and order, not to harass or intimidate citizens. It stressed that any act of violence by security personnel is outside their code of conduct and will not be condoned.
“Since their introduction on January 18, 2025, both outfits have commendably maintained law and order. However, those involved in this particular assault will face the full weight of the law,” the statement read.
The State Government assured members of the public, especially youth corps members deployed to Anambra, that they remain safe and should go about their lawful activities without fear of harassment.
It also commended the swift action taken by the police and the leadership of Operation Udo Ga-Achi in arresting those involved in the incident, urging the victims to cooperate with investigators to ensure speedy justice.
