Two-Storey Building Collapses in Alimosho, Lagos
Lagos, Nigeria — A two-storey building collapsed on Monday evening at 4, Modupeola Street, Mangoro Bus Stop, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the cause of the incident, which occurred around 6 p.m., is yet to be determined. The Lagos State Government has launched an investigation into the collapse.
Rescue Operations
Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), supported by other first responders, swiftly arrived at the scene. They rescued six people, including one who was trapped under the rubble.
- Five victims were treated and later moved to a private hospital in the area.
- The trapped victim, a 44-year-old resident of Olabode Street, Alimosho, sustained a fracture and bruises. He was stabilised on-site before being transferred by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to LASUTH Surgical Emergency, where he was admitted in stable condition.
Government Response
The Lagos State Government has assured the public that findings from the ongoing probe will guide measures to prevent a recurrence.
