Troops Sustain Offensive Against Bandits, Neutralise Terrorists in North East
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intensified offensive operations across the theatre as part of Operation DESERT SANITY V, recording notable gains in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.
The operations led to the neutralisation of several terrorists, the arrest of suspected collaborators, and the surrender of a suspected member of a terrorist group.
In a coordinated operation with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), OPHK troops engaged terrorists advancing from Yale towards the Sambisa Forest axis. During the encounter, four terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle with ammunition, along with food items believed to be part of the group’s logistics supply chain. The troops returned safely to base without casualties.
Further sustained offensives by multiple units along strategic routes, including Dambboa–Maiduguri, Dambboa–Gwoza, and the Goniri axis, effectively disrupted terrorist movements and denied them freedom of action across key infiltration corridors.
In a related development, troops deployed at Kanama arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators during a stop-and-search operation. The suspects were found with clothing, personal effects, and other materials believed to support terrorist logistics. Preliminary investigations also uncovered incriminating digital content suggesting possible links to terrorist elements. They are currently in custody pending further investigation.
Additionally, troops recorded the surrender of a suspected member of Boko Haram/ISWAP at a checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area. The individual claimed to have been abducted earlier in the year and forced into joining the group. He is presently undergoing profiling and further investigation.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, reaffirmed the Theatre Command’s commitment to restoring lasting peace, security, and economic stability in the region.
The Command also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, while the Military High Command commended troops for their gallantry and resilience, encouraging them to maintain the current operational momentum.
