Lagos Deepens SGBV Awareness Campaign Through CDAC Partnerships
The Lagos State Government, through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has intensified its campaign against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) by strengthening partnerships with grassroots structures across the state.
Since January 2025, the Agency has engaged 18 Community Development Councils (CDCs) and 367 Community Development Associations (CDAs), reaching thousands of residents through the invaluable support of the Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC).
As part of activities marking the Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month, the Agency on Wednesday launched its “Turning the CDACs Purple” initiative, symbolising solidarity in the fight against SGBV. During an official CDAC meeting, DSVA decorated 57 CDAC leaders with purple lapel pins, formally recognising them as ambassadors of the campaign within their communities.
Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, commended the CDAC for their dedication to spreading prevention and response messages to the grassroots. She stressed that collaboration with community leaders is central to building a culture of prevention, protection, and accountability.

The Agency reported that these grassroots interventions have directly sensitised over 851,000 residents and indirectly influenced 1.7 million individuals across Lagos.
“These figures underscore the power of community mobilisation in amplifying the fight against SGBV,” Vivour-Adeniyi said, adding that the campaign reaffirms the collective responsibility of all Lagosians in building a safer, violence-free state.
