TG/PS Education District11 undertakes inspection of schools

In a continued effort to promote quality education and maintain a safe, conducive learning environment across Lagos State public schools, the Supervising Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) of Education District II, Mr. Olusegun Osinaike embarked on an extensive monitoring and facility assessment tour of six schools within the District during the week.

The monitoring exercise forms part of a broader initiative aimed at evaluating infrastructure, assessing teaching and learning processes, and identifying areas requiring urgent government intervention. It reflects the State Government’s commitment to strategic improvements in the education sector.

Speaking during the visits, Mr. Osinaike reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s dedication to transforming public education through regular supervision and systematic infrastructural upgrades.“

“Our responsibility as a District goes beyond supervision; we are custodians of standards. We must ensure our schools are not only centres of academic excellence but also safe, functional, and inspiring spaces for learning. We owe our students nothing less,” He said.

Throughout the visits, the TG/PS engaged with school principals, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students. He inspected key facilities, including classroom blocks, laboratories, hostels, kitchens, and sanitary infrastructure, while taking note of areas needing prompt attention. He praised the school leaders and staff for their commitment and encouraged them to maintain high standards in academics and discipline.

Mr. Osinaike emphasised that functional school environments are the bedrock of societal progress and reiterated that the monitoring exercise offered an opportunity for direct engagement and support.

“These visits represent our unwavering commitment to quality assurance and align with the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, particularly in the area of Education and Technology,” he added.

School principals expressed deep appreciation for the TG/PS’s visit, describing it as timely and motivating. They noted that such direct interactions reflect a responsive and supportive leadership and significantly boost staff morale. They further pledged their continued commitment to excellence in line with the values of the Lagos State education system.

Schools visited during the week included Eva Adelaja Girls’ Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, Bariga; Ansar-ud-Deen Junior and Senior Grammar Schools, Imota, and Lagos State Girls’ Junior and Senior Model Colleges, Agunfoye.

The exercise underscores Education District II’s dedication to upholding high educational standards and fostering environments where students can thrive academically and socially.
