Gov Mbah hosts Institute of Quantity Surveyors as new members are inducted
Enugu state Governor, Peter Mbah on Wednesday, received the leadership and members of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, who are in Enugu for their national workshop and the induction of newly qualified Quantity Surveyors at the International Conference Centre.
He said their visit is deeply appreciated, especially as they acknowledged the magnitude of projects traversing the state as a statement of his desire to ensure development quickly reaches every nook and cranny of Enugu. He urges them to continue to enjoy the security, ambience, and tranquillity of the state..
In his words, the governor said: “The theme of their workshop, Standardising Procurement Excellence and Efficiency: The Nigerian Bureau of Procurement’s Standard Bidding Documents, actually resonates with us. The first thing I did immediately after my swearing-in was to sign Executive Order 001, which essentially speaks to transparency. Our governance philosophy is largely underpinned by those words: transparency, accountability, and fund traceability.

But something that we also do, which is why we find the quantity surveying profession indispensable, is ensure value for money. We try to squeeze from every naira we spend the last kobo, and there is no way we would have been able to successfully do that without this noble profession.
“We welcome their pledge to continue partnering with us in the planning, execution, and management of construction projects across the state. With over 2,000 ongoing and completed projects, including 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres across our 260 political wards, we remain committed to delivering quality infrastructure in all sectors.
“We also appreciate the presence of a former Chief of the Army Staff, Quantity Surveyor Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) at the event and look forward to working more closely with the Enugu chapter of the Institute in the months ahead.”
