Sokoto Gov presents ₦758.7bn appropriation Bill
Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto
has presented the 2026 ₦758.7bn fiscal year Appropriation Bill titled “Budget of Socio-Economic Expansion” to the Sokoto State House of Assembly.
In his words, the governor said:
“It is a people-driven budget focused on growth, security, and improved quality of life.
“The budget prioritises development: 41% to the economic sector, 37% to the social sector, with 72% dedicated to capital projects in line with IMF/World Bank standards. Notably, it is funded without borrowing, relying solely on FAAC and IGR.
“Key investments include ₦122.7bn for health (completion of SSUTH Kasarawa, Murtala Muhammad Hospital, premier hospitals in Binji, Tambuwal & Sokoto/Birni, plus 21 ambulances); ₦115.9bn for education; ₦18.7bn for agriculture to boost food security; ₦41.1bn for water resources; ₦109.1bn for works & transport; and ₦45.2bn for security.
“This budget reflects the aspirations of Sokoto people through wide consultations. I appreciate the leadership of the State House of Assembly, the guidance of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and reaffirm our loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as we work together for a prosperous Sokoto State.”
