LASODA Extends Financial Support to Disability-Focused Organisations
The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has renewed its commitment to advancing disability inclusion by providing financial support to registered NGOs, Homes, Foundations, and Cluster Groups dedicated to serving persons with disabilities. The support exercise was held on 21 November 2025 at the Agency’s headquarters.
Representing LASODA’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, the Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Akinbule Adesola Hezekiah, welcomed beneficiaries and described the initiative as a reflection of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s sustained dedication to the welfare of persons with disabilities.
He noted that although the gesture may be modest, it underscores the government’s appreciation of the tireless work and resilience displayed by disability-focused organisations across the state.
“On behalf of the Lagos State Government, this support acknowledges your efforts. It is an annual programme, and we encourage all stakeholders to continue collaborating with LASODA for the progress of the disability community,” he said.
In her remarks, Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal urged persons with disabilities who have yet to register with LASODA to take advantage of the Agency’s open-door policy, describing it as “your home—feel free to access it.” She also called on organisations to consistently share updates, challenges, and progress reports to help LASODA co-develop more effective solutions for children, adults, and caregivers within the disability ecosystem.
Director of Social Development and Integration, Mr. Kelani Akeem, encouraged NGOs, Homes, and Foundations to remain accountable and actively engage with the Agency. He revealed that while over 100 groups are registered with LASODA, 25 were selected for this phase of support based on established criteria and activity reports.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, CEO of So-Said Charity Home for Vulnerable Persons, Mrs. Felicia Martins, expressed gratitude to the state government and LASODA for their continuous support. She affirmed that “every disability is a possibility,” emphasising the importance of hope and joy despite daily challenges. She also reassured persons with disabilities that caregivers and support institutions remain steadfast in their commitment to their well-being.
Other beneficiaries include the Irede Foundation, Excellent Child Initiative, Tolajoke Foundation, SAFREL Speech and Language Development Centre, Igbehin Adun Special School, and Iyaniwura Foundation, among others.
