The Lagos State Government has reiterated its dedication to equipping health workers with critical life-saving skills required to safeguard the lives of residents across the state.

This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District V, Dr. Oladapo Asiyanbi, during a four-day intensive training programme, themed “Basic Life-Saving Skills,” held from July 28 to 31, 2025, in Ikeja.

The training was organised by Health District V in conjunction with the Health Emergency Initiative (HEI), bringing together healthcare workers from across the District Region. The programme focused on enhancing the Emergency Response Competencies of Frontline Health Personnel, equipping them with the essential knowledge and practical skills necessary for saving lives in critical situations.

According to Dr. Asiyanbi, the initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s broader mandate to ensure a highly skilled and responsive health workforce. “It is imperative that we continue to build the capacity of our healthcare workers to respond effectively during emergencies. Saving lives begins with having the right skills, and that is what we are committed to delivering for the good of every Lagosian”, he added.

The Basic Life Saving Skills training covered Emergency First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Trauma Management, and other Critical care techniques. Participants were also taken through real-life simulations to strengthen practical application.
