The Abia State Police Command has taken a decisive step to boost security and restore public confidence by disbanding the Quick Intervention Unit (QIU) and unveiling a new tactical squad codenamed the ‘Strike Force.’

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Maureen C. Chinaka, LLB, anipr, the move aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to strengthen professionalism, accountability, and rule of law compliance within the Force.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, explained that the QIU was dissolved following cases of unprofessional misconduct. To fill the operational gap, the newly established Strike Force, under the command of DSP Eze Augustine Eke, will serve as a disciplined, combat-ready intervention team deployed strategically to tackle crime across the state.

CP Danladi charged the officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and strict adherence to the rule of law in carrying out their duties. He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to delivering people-friendly policing that protects lives, property, and the constitutional rights of citizens.

The statement further urged residents to report any police misconduct to the Abia Police Complaint Response Unit via these dedicated lines: 09031593827, 09035401645.

By setting up the Strike Force, the Abia State Police Command seeks to rebuild trust with the public while consolidating efforts to curb insecurity in the state.
