Chief of Air Staff Reaffirms Transformation, Joint Collaboration Against Insecurity
Abuja, Nigeria — September 25, 2025 — The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, DFS, has reaffirmed the central role of transformation, innovation, and collaboration in strengthening Nigeria’s military response to insecurity.
Speaking at the Third Quarter 2025 Defence Headquarters and Services Transformation Seminar, held at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Abuja, he described the event as a milestone in advancing strategies for operational readiness and national defence.
The seminar, themed “Galvanizing the Will to Fight: Issues and Transformative Solutions for the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” underscored the importance of resilience, loyalty, trust, and unit cohesion alongside modern equipment.
“The best form of welfare for troops is first-class training,” Air Marshal Abubakar quoted General Erwin Rommel, stressing that welfare, innovation, and training are critical in preserving the will to fight.
Key Highlights from CAS Address
- Innovation & Training: NAF has strengthened airpower application, resuscitated the NAFSA Eagle Project for aerospace self-reliance, and boosted incentives for innovation.
- Troop Welfare: Initiatives include new accommodation projects, the Nigerian Air Force College of Logistics, improved medical facilities, upgraded insurance schemes, and over 70 new operational vehicles.
- Operational Readiness: Full personnel kitting and fitness initiatives are ensuring troops remain combat-ready.
Earlier, the Chief of Transformation and Innovation, Air Vice Marshal AH Amesinlola, commended participants for advancing cross-service collaboration.
Declaring the seminar open, Air Marshal Abubakar expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his continued support to the Armed Forces, urging participants to deliver actionable outcomes that will strengthen the collective will to fight.
