All Lawyers Withdraw from Nnamdi Kanu’s Terrorism Trial

All senior advocates representing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, have withdrawn their legal services in his ongoing terrorism trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

At Thursday’s resumed hearing, Kanu personally challenged the jurisdiction of the court to continue his trial, arguing that the Court of Appeal had already discharged him in an earlier verdict.

Despite the objection, presiding judge Justice James Omotosho ruled that the defendant must proceed to open his defence, noting that issues of jurisdiction could be raised at the appellate level or included in the final written address.

The court subsequently adjourned the case to October 24, 2025, for the defendant to commence his defence.
