The AGPC ANOH Gas Processing Plant, located in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State, and recognized as West Africa’s largest gas plant, has officially commenced full operations.

The announcement was made by the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), which described the project as a game-changer for Nigeria’s energy landscape and a catalyst for economic transformation in Imo State.

With production now underway, the plant is expected to significantly increase domestic gas supply, strengthen electricity generation, and drive rapid industrial growth across the country.

ISOPADEC emphasized that the commissioning of the plant will:

  • Attract new local and foreign investments.
  • Create direct and indirect job opportunities for Nigerian youths.
  • Improve infrastructure in oil- and gas-bearing communities.
  • Enhance welfare through targeted social development programs.

The Commission’s Managing Director, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable community engagement.

“This is a new dawn for Imo State and Nigeria at large. The ANOH Gas Plant represents energy-driven prosperity, empowerment, and lasting progress for our people,” Onyedebelu stated.

The ANOH facility is set to play a critical role in Nigeria’s energy transition, reducing gas flaring, boosting cleaner energy, and positioning Imo State as a hub for industrial expansion and economic empowerment.
