…As accident claims one attempting to cross on foot

No fewer than one person was killed while others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the Oko Afo area of Lagos State on Wednesday after attempting to dash across the newly constructed six-lane Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

A commuter, identified as Bamgbose, told Brezenson Media that the yet-to-be-identified man was knocked down by a fast-moving car while trying to cross the road.

“This is the harrowing experience we witness every now and then. There is hardly any day that accidents are not recorded on this road. That is why we are appealing to the Lagos State Government to urgently construct pedestrian bridges to promote safety,” Bamgbose said.

Meanwhile, work has commenced on the previously abandoned pedestrian crossing along the busy road. A check by Brezenson Media revealed that construction workers have been mobilised to the site.

An elated commuter noted that when completed, the pedestrian bridge would significantly reduce the frequency of accidents in the area.
