2025 Joint Annual Review Conference Of Nigeria Health Sector Opens In Abuja
The 2025 Joint Annual Review (JAR) Conference of Nigeria’s health sector has officially opened in Abuja, marking the second edition of the high-level policy and accountability forum.
This year’s conference is themed “All Hands. One Mission. Bringing Nigeria’s Health Sector to Light.” It builds on the baseline set during the inaugural JAR and serves as a vital accountability platform for tracking progress, identifying gaps, and charting a unified course toward improved health outcomes for all Nigerians.
The event will evaluate the health sector’s performance across key indicators and feature the signing of an updated Health Sector Compact. The new compact includes an addendum to incorporate Local Government Areas (LGAs), the private sector, traditional and religious leaders, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) — expanding collaboration and strengthening the drive toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
In addition to plenary and technical sessions, the 2025 JAR will host five “Spotlight Sessions” focusing on critical health priorities. These include:
MAMII – Crashing Maternal Mortality
Tackling Corruption in the Health Sector
Navigating ODA Funding Shifts for Health, featuring a case study from the ATM Technical Working Group
Advancing Local Manufacturing of Life Sciences Products and Market-Shaping Initiatives
Health Sector Portfolio Expenditure Review
Through these sessions, stakeholders from government, development partners, and civil society will collaborate to strengthen Nigeria’s health system resilience and accelerate progress toward sustainable, inclusive healthcare delivery.
