LASG inspects ongoing electrification projects in Badagry West LCDAs
As part of continued efforts to accelerate access to reliable electricity across Lagos State, the Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye, alongside the General Manager of the Lagos State Electrification Agency (LSEA), Engr. Kamaldeen Abiodun Balogun led a joint site inspection of ongoing electrification projects embarked upon by the Ministry and Agency.
“The inspection covered the rehabilitation of 33kV lines, power distribution transformers and other related electrical infrastructure along the Gbaji–Seme and Owode–Apa corridors in Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), spanning communities such as Gbaji, Seme, Owode, Apa, Asakpo, Ashipa, and Ajido.
The visit aimed to assess the progress and quality of work on the ongoing projects initiated to restore electricity to communities that had suffered prolonged darkness following years of vandalism of electrical installations.

For more than seven years, residents in the border communities have endured an unreliable power supply, severely affecting their economic and social well-being. The current project seeks to restore power stability, strengthen the distribution network, and enhance community development through sustainable electricity infrastructure.
Speaking during the inspection, Mr. Ogunleye reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to deliver equitable and sustainable power supply across all communities in the state.
He said, “What we are doing here today demonstrates the resolve of the Sanwo-Olu administration to ensure that no community is left behind in the drive for improved electricity access. Power remains a key driver of development, and we will continue to invest in projects that bring light, security, and opportunities to our people.”
On his part, Engr. Balogun commended the progress of work and lauded the cooperation of local stakeholders in the affected communities. He stated, “This inspection gives us confidence that the rehabilitation is progressing steadily. We appeal to residents of Gbaji, Seme, Owode, Apa, Asakpo, Ashipa, Ajido, and neighbouring communities to safeguard these infrastructures and take ownership of government investments meant to serve them.”
He further assured that the Lagos State Electrification Agency will continue to monitor and support all ongoing power projects to ensure timely completion and prevent future vandalism.
