Lagos AG Lawal Pedro Hosts Civil Service Commission, Calls for Stronger Synergy in Justice Delivery
The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, on Thursday received the Chairman of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, and other members of the Commission during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Justice, Alausa, Ikeja.
In his remarks, Pedro commended the Commission for its pivotal role in sustaining professionalism, discipline, and meritocracy within the State’s public service. He described the Civil Service as “the engine room of government,” stressing that strong synergy between the Ministry of Justice and the Commission is vital to both governance and the effective dispensation of justice.
The Attorney-General further noted that the engagement provides a platform to deepen collaboration in staff development, capacity building, and welfare enhancement, all of which are critical to sustaining an efficient workforce and advancing the Ministry’s mandate.
On her part, Mrs. Dapo-Thomas appreciated the warm reception and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting the Ministry in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities. She emphasized that fostering institutional cooperation would not only improve efficiency but also strengthen a robust, responsive, and forward-looking Civil Service capable of meeting the evolving needs of Lagos State.
Earlier, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr. Babajide Martins, welcomed the delegation, noting that the visit reflects a shared commitment to strengthening public institutions. He stressed that the Ministry highly values the Commission’s support in motivating the workforce, reiterating that such collaboration is indispensable to sustaining excellence in governance and justice delivery.
The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on capacity building, the recruitment of additional State Counsels, and other strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of quality public service to Lagosians.
