In a bold sweep of reforms shaking up Nigeria’s livestock landscape, the Federal Government has commissioned yet another model veterinary hospital—this time in Enugu—barely a week after opening a similar facility in Yola, Adamawa State.

The unveiling, done under the World Bank–backed Livestock Productivity and Resilience Project (L-PRES), signals what officials describe as a new era of science-driven livestock management in the country.

Addressing a gathering of government officials, veterinarians, and community leaders, Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, declared that the Renewed Hope Agenda was “no longer a promise but a visible reality,” citing modern infrastructure and strengthened veterinary systems as proof of the sector’s rebirth.
So far, seven ultra-modern hospitals have been completed nationwide, with 14 more in progress, he announced.
