Anambra Guber: NSCDC monitoring team reports calm, peaceful poll

In line with the directive of the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, the Deputy Commandant General (DCG) in charge of Operations, Philip Ayuba, today led a high-powered monitoring team across Anambra State to assess the Corps’ operational deployment during the ongoing gubernatorial election.

The monitoring exercise, which covered several polling units, collation centers, and situation rooms, revealed a generally calm and peaceful atmosphere, with voters conducting themselves in an orderly and law-abiding manner.

Speaking during the tour, DCG Ayuba commended the people of Anambra State for their civility and peaceful disposition, describing the election as a reflection of growing democratic maturity. He also lauded officers and men of the NSCDC for their professional conduct, vigilance, and synergy with other security agencies in ensuring a hitch-free exercise.

“The Corps’ presence across all polling stations and strategic locations in the state is to ensure peace, protect critical national assets, and safeguard the lives of citizens as they exercise their civic responsibility,” he said.

He further reiterated the Corps’ commitment to maintaining neutrality and professionalism throughout the electoral process, in line with the vision of the Commandant General to build a disciplined, people-centered, and credible security institution.

The DCG and his team expressed satisfaction with the overall security situation and urged citizens to continue cooperating with security agencies for the success of the electoral process and the deepening of democracy in Nigeria.
