Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, has unveiled an ambitious $1 trillion Imo economic expansion agenda during the Imo Economic Summit held in Owerri, alongside commissioning the new Access Bank Regional Office in the state capital.

Speaking at the event, Governor Uzodimma emphasised that strategic partnerships remain crucial to accelerating Imo’s economic growth.

“Every partnership presents an opportunity to drive our economy forward, especially as we launch the ambitious $1 trillion economy at the Imo Economic Summit,” he said.
“In commissioning the Access Bank Plc Regional Office in Owerri, I reiterated the profound impact such institutions have on the economic activities of our dear State, and this was my driving factor when I expeditiously approved this space for the Bank.”

The new regional office is named after renowned economist Chief Pascal Gabriel Dozie, founder of Diamond Bank. Governor Uzodimma noted that the choice of name reflects Dozie’s lifelong commitment to indigenous enterprise development, financial inclusion, and Nigeria’s broader economic transformation.

According to him, every transaction conducted within the new Access Bank regional office would translate into “meaningful financial growth” for the rapidly expanding Imo economy.

Governor Uzodimma also honoured late Access Bank Managing Director, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, acknowledging his role in initiating the partnership with the state.

“I make bold to commend Access Bank Plc for this milestone, with special honour to its late Managing Director, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, who personally sought this partnership with the State. I firmly believe in the mutual benefits this collaboration will continue to deliver,” the governor concluded.
