For two consecutive days, residents and commuters in Oko Afo and its surrounding communities have been gripped by fear following a series of violent attacks allegedly carried out by men dressed in military uniform.

According to eyewitnesses, the men stormed the area, smashing vehicle windscreens and assaulting commuters and commercial drivers at bus stops with sticks.

One resident, who identified himself as Khizito, told Brezenson Media that the attackers were believed to be on a revenge mission over a confrontation involving a naval rating and a commercial minibus driver on Sunday.

He explained that the disagreement escalated after the naval officer reportedly used a dagger to deflate the tyres of the minibus. The act sparked outrage, leading angry drivers and nearby street youths to pounce on the uniformed man and beat him severely.

In response to the reported assault on their colleague, the suspected military personnel allegedly returned to Oko Afo Bus Stop on Sunday evening and again on Monday night, attacking passers-by and operators of commercial buses, popularly known as Korope.

As of the time of filing this report, police officers from the Ijanikin and Morogbo Divisions were seen patrolling the troubled areas to restore calm.
