Eze Igbo Ghana Commiserates with Ghanaians over Death of Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

The Eze Igbo of Ghana, Eze Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu has extended his condolences to the people of Ghana and the family of former President Jerry John Rawlings over the passing of his wife and former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

In a statement issued from the Obieziokwu Palace in Accra, Eze Ihenetu described the late Mrs. Rawlings as “a woman of virtue and vision whose life was devoted to service and empowerment.”

He noted that the former First Lady would be deeply missed for her generosity and enduring commitment to the welfare of the needy, adding that her legacy would continue to inspire generations of Ghanaian women.

“Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings leaves behind a legacy defined by her dedication to the nation’s women and girls,” Eze Ihenetu said. “Throughout her time as First Lady and beyond, she was a true champion of women’s advocacy. She didn’t just speak about women’s rights — she mobilized a movement. Her work empowered countless women across Ghana to achieve financial independence and take up leadership roles. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”

Eze Ihenetu also prayed for strength and comfort for the Rawlings family and the people of Ghana during this period of national mourning, affirming the deep cultural and historical ties between Nigerians and Ghanaians.
