Two Akwa Ibom communities—Ikot Obong Akan in Ikot Akpa Akpabong, Mpat Enin Local Government Area, and Ekparakwa in Oruk Anam LGA—have issued a desperate appeal to Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, and Governor Umo Eno, over the collapsed state of the road linking their villages.

In a distress statement shared on the Akwa Ibom online platform, the communities lamented that the road has deteriorated to a dangerous level, with erosion and flooding threatening to cut them off completely.

“We beg our beloved Governor to come to our rescue. The lives of villagers are in danger. Both local government chairmen should intervene, and our representatives—both at state and federal levels—must act before this becomes a sorry tale,” the statement read.

The residents further disclosed that a stream has completely taken over the road, with no bridge to enable safe passage to the other side, leaving daily movement of people and goods at severe risk.

They called for urgent intervention to restore access, warning that without swift action, the communities could be completely isolated from civilisation.
