The Super Eagles of Nigeria have completed their final training session in Bloemfontein as they prepare for Tuesday’s decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

The team trained at the Free State Toyota Stadium in high spirits, with players looking sharp and focused as they stepped onto the pitch for their last workout before the crucial encounter.

The session began with recovery exercises using foam rollers to ease muscle tension, following a light morning warm-up at their team hotel. Tactical drills soon followed, with players split into groups to practice ball movement and positioning. The exercises also doubled as an adjustment to the substandard pitch conditions, which have drawn criticism since the venue was confirmed.

Despite the uneven surface, the squad displayed discipline and unity throughout training. Goalkeepers received specialized drills, while head coach Eric Chelle and his staff provided tactical instructions, ensuring the team maintained intensity and focus.

All players in camp took part in the session, with the exception of star striker Victor Osimhen, who has been ruled out after sustaining an injury during Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo. Osimhen has since returned to Turkey on a private jet arranged by his club, Galatasaray, where he will undergo further treatment.

Tuesday’s clash is a must-win for Nigeria, who sit on 10 points, six behind South Africa’s 16. A victory would close the gap to three and keep the Super Eagles’ qualification hopes alive, while defeat could put them on the brink of missing a second consecutive World Cup.

For the Super Eagles, this is not just a match—it is a battle to protect their legacy on football’s biggest stage.
