IGP Egbetokun Joins Interpol African Conference in South Africa, Calls for Stronger Regional Security Cooperation
At the 27th Interpol African Regional Conference in South Africa, Nigeria’s police chief urged regional collaboration to combat cross-border crime and terrorism threats.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has attended the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in South Africa.
According to a statement by the Nigeria Police Force, the strategic forum is designed to strengthen international cooperation against transnational crime and enhance global law enforcement synergy.

The conference brings together more than 200 police chiefs and security leaders from 56 countries to deliberate on contemporary security challenges, intelligence-sharing, and cross-border policing strategies.
The IGP is also scheduled to deliver a paper titled “Cattle Theft in West Africa: A Conduit for Terrorism and CBRNE Threats,” addressing its links to organised crime and terrorism financing.
On the sidelines, Egbetokun is engaging in bilateral meetings with INTERPOL President, Major General Naser Alraisi, and Secretary General, Valdecy Urquiza. Discussions are focusing on operational partnerships, intelligence exchange, and Nigeria’s renewed commitment to regional and global security cooperation.
