Yultide: Imo, Abia Govs Unveil Joint Taskforce to check insecurity on Aba–Owerri Highway
In a rare show of unity and urgency, Governors Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Alex Otti of Abia State have launched a formidable inter-state security alliance to confront the escalating criminal activities terrorizing the Aba–Owerri corridor.
The decision emerged from an emergency security summit held on December 4 at the Imo State Government House, Owerri—an atmosphere insiders described as “strategic, tense, and uncompromising,” reflecting the gravity of the recent attacks in the region.
The newly activated Joint Taskforce—which began operations on December 5, 2025—is one of the most aggressive security collaborations ever instituted in the South-East. Drawn from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police, DSS, and other authorized security outfits, the force is equipped and mandated to execute a no-nonsense crackdown on criminal elements along the highway and its hidden escape routes.
