Sokoto Governor Felicitates UDUS on 50th Anniversary, 42nd Convocation

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has congratulated the management, staff, students, and alumni of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) as the institution marks its 50th Golden Jubilee and 42nd Convocation Ceremony.

In his goodwill message, the Governor described the milestone as a celebration of “five decades of excellence in scholarship, research, and service to humanity,” adding that UDUS has remained “a shining beacon of knowledge, character, and leadership for Sokoto State and Nigeria.”

Governor Aliyu also commended the 4,024 graduands who successfully completed their studies: 120 Doctorates, 353 Master’s degrees, 20 Postgraduate Diplomas, and 3,561 first degrees, including 119 First Class Honours.

He gave special recognition to Mr. Abdullah Sheriff, the overall best graduating student with a CGPA of 4.92, describing his achievement as an inspiration to his peers. In appreciation of his excellence, the Governor announced a fully sponsored trip to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj, as a reward for his dedication and hard work.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to education, Governor Aliyu stated:

“As a government, we remain steadfast in our commitment to education as the foundation of sustainable development, innovation, and empowerment. By investing in our youth and supporting institutions like UDUS, we will continue to raise a generation of leaders defined by knowledge, values, and service to society.”

He urged the graduating students to be worthy ambassadors of their families, communities, and nation, carrying forward the values of learning and service instilled by the institution.
