In a bid to strengthen inclusive governance, the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement (OPL&CE) has organised a one-day strategic engagement session for 200 nominated Resolvers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). These Resolvers are tasked with handling citizens’ submissions on the CitizensGate 2.0 platform to promote transparency, responsiveness, and citizen participation in governance.

The session took place at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference and Exhibition Centre (LCCIC), Alausa, Ikeja.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen—represented by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Sholabomi Sashore—commended the Resolvers for their dedication. He stressed that resolving citizen complaints goes beyond administrative duty, describing it as a symbol of citizens being heard and a renewed relationship with government.

“No software, no algorithm, and no server can deliver the trust that citizens seek in government without the diligence, empathy, and professionalism of the Resolvers,” he said. “A government is working not just in words but also in deeds. That is the legacy we are building here in Lagos—a legacy of active citizenship and responsive governance. Therefore, I urge you to engage actively, share perspectives, and learn from one another because our Lagos must respond faster, act smarter, and remain committed to the people we serve.”

He reiterated that the CitizensGate platform was designed to rebuild citizens’ trust in government by bridging the gap between public complaints and institutional action. He described Resolvers as the crucial human interface between citizens and government institutions.

According to him, the engagement was an opportunity to re-orient Resolvers on evolving expectations, explore how MDA-specific responsiveness can be improved, address operational challenges, eliminate bottlenecks, and strengthen inter-agency synergy.

The Resolvers also participated in a practical session led by Engr. Michael Chizoba, Head of Engineering and IT at AppliStructure Consulting Limited, who walked them through the upgraded features of CitizensGate 2.0.
