LASODA engages community development advisory council on inclusion

The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has reiterated the importance of local government involvement in driving inclusive community development during the Monthly Meeting of the Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC), organised by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development.

The meeting, which took place on Wednesday at the T-Block Conference Room, The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, provided a platform for collaboration between LASODA and key community development stakeholders.

Representing the General Manager of LASODA, Barrister Babatunde Shafiu, Head of the Legal Department, highlighted the agency’s role in promoting the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities across Lagos State.

He emphasised the need for local governments to play a more proactive role in ensuring accessibility, inclusion, and equal participation of persons with disabilities in community development programmes.

Barrister Shafiu commended the Ministry for providing a platform to discuss developmental initiatives and called for continuous partnership between LASODA, CDAC, and local government authorities to achieve a more inclusive Lagos.

The engagement aims to strengthen collaboration and create synergies among stakeholders working towards inclusive community development in Lagos State.
